project life : week 2

happy friday!!
big plans for the weekend?
i have this entire weekend off work, but we are suppose to get 6-15 inches of snow on sunday.
one of our jobs is to scoop & clear 9 apartment buildings + their surrounding sidewalks, steps & walkways.
it takes about 2+ hours each time it snows, so sunday will be spent outside with a shovel.

i am plugging along on my project life. after work today, i have to pick up my photos for weeks 4 & 5 ; so i plan to get caught up this weekend!

week 2 : january 6-12th

this week, blake & i signed up for the YMCA. there are 20+ locations in the cities that we have access to & two locations nearby. we attended two body pump classes [my fave!] & body flow [yoga+pilates]

i baked TWO loaves of cinnamon pull-apart bread [somebody with 4 legs ate the first loaf before i could document it!] & they turned out excellent.

gave myself a bit of pampering with my favorite vegan nail polish! and treated myself to a sandwich from jimmy johns. the sea salt & vinegar chips are one of my favorite things on the planet!

also, we volunteered with the parks department & got to snowshoe along the river for a few hours. it was so beautiful & a lot of fun.

do you have any questions about project life? i dont know tons, but id love to try & answer your questions.
click on the 'project life' tab over there ------------> to see my first week.
also, the '40 loaves' tab will take you through all the bread i have been baking so far this year.

have a great weekend!!

project life : week 1

yay! today is the last day of the month & i *finally* have my first project life layout finished!
i ordered a bunch of photos from postal pix & they took OVER two weeks to arrive.

what is project life? : its a 52-week photo documenting project that is simple & easy.
you take photos, document your week & slip your notes & photos into the binder.
done!
its like scrapbooking without all the really expensive supplies & all the time-taking.

week 1 : december 30th-january 5th

week 1 included coming home for our cross-country drive to north carolina, cupcakes, my first loaf from 40 loaves & a basketball game.

i baked my first '40 loaf' & i love this photo of daphne.
she sat in the backseat of the car all the way to north carolina & back ; she did such a great job!

blake lived in portland for a million years, so hes always been a trailblazers fan. each year, when the blazers play the wolves, i buy him a ticket & i enjoy my yearly basketball game.

we have a really delish bakery near our house, where we have been purchasing a few too many cupcakes!

my mom & aunt drove my grandma down to arizona for the winter & sent us a postcard

so far, i am a fan of project life. its easy & it will be a fun way of recording the little things that happen throughout the year.
i want to remember the days of cupcakes, postcards & cotton candy.

why i am choosing to do project life in 2013

thursday!
three days into 2013.
are you feeling good?
blake & i decided to re-join a gym for the first time in years & we are lovin' it so far.
[we are more 'do hard workouts at home' people ; but i think the gym will be a great change of pace for us]

for the past few years, i have attempted [usually pretty successfully] to complete some sort of 'project 365' ; taking a photo a day for an entire year.
years ago, i use to be really into scrapbooking. there is a part of me that misses it. i love the idea of holding a 'hard copy' of your photo & then placing it somewhere where you can reference it for a really long time.
with my SLR & my iphone camera, i take a billion pictures, but never print them. they just stay on my computer.

so that is where 'project life' comes in. you can read more about it here ; but the idea is to take photos of the small things in your life ; the little things that you might not remember day after day. you use a binder with different-sized page protectors & add in anything you want.
recipes, love notes, coupons, dinner receipts, a tag from a new pair of yoga pants ; anything, really.
you add photos & journal however it works for you [full paragraphs, bullet points, ect]

blake & i are so busy right now & SO focused on paying down debt and saving for a house that sometimes we can let the little things slip past us [no way i am the only one...]. i want to remember those little things ; i want to be able to look back & smile hard, remembering the night we went for a walk and saw a bald eagle ; or the new breakfast place that serves our favorite food.

i want 2013 to be the year that i find joy in all the teeny, tiny things that are happening around me.

will you do a project like this in 2013? have you already started? any tips for me?
each week, i will be sharing my layouts, photos & products i will be using.
